HURRICANE SALLY
Pensacola, FL
September 2020

As the seventh hurricane of the record-breaking 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, Sally made landfall on September 16 as a Category 2. Several counties and parishes were evacuated while flash flooding, wind damage, and over 20 inches of rainfall occurred between Mobile AL and Pensacola, FL, causing at least $5 billion in damages. First Choice arrived quickly to clean up, board up, and build up.

 

Hurricane winds caused damage to the roof of this Décor Design Studio causing water to make its way inside the building. Our team completed water mitigation to dryout the interior of the premises.

 
 

Storm waters caused significant damage to this apartment complex. Exterior damage was repaired and debris was removed. Inside, the affected apartments were thoroughly dried, and saturated walls and ceilings were demoed.

 
 

Several homes in the Dory Townhouse Community were damaged by winds and water. Our crews dried out the affected town homes, demoed the saturated walls and ceilings, and removed all debris.

 
 

Hurricane Sally brought heavy rains and flooding to this beach house, leaving it completely wet throughout. Our crews protected the home from additional water with containment barriers and set drying equipment throughout the residence to ensure thorough drying.

 
 

The storm hit this realty office hard leaving behind damage and debris. First Choice cleaned up and removed the rubble, leaving the property ready for repairs.

 
 

Several units of the the Villagio Shopping Center were affected by flood waters. Mitigation, dryout, containment, demo, debris cleanup were required. Additionally, many stores also required an antimicrobial application to prevent mold growth. First Choice performed it all quickly and completely.

 

HURRICANE LAURA
Lake Charles, LA
September 2020

Hurricane Laura made landfall on Cameron, Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane on August 27, 2020. It was tied with the 1856 Last Island hurricane as the strongest on record to hit the state of Louisiana, and caused over $10 billion in damages. First Choice arrived on site in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to repair wind damage to commercial and residential properties. We provided extensive tarping and board-up to ensure the structures were safe and secure so the necessary renovations could take place. We then proceeded with the water mitigation and dry-out portion. Wet walls, ceilings, flooring, etc were demoed and removed from properties in order to allow drying equipment to do their job. Dehumidifiers, desiccants, and air movers were placed throughout properties to ensure they were brought back to dry standards.

 

The LaQuinta Hotel was battered by heavy winds and flooded with water. Our crews contained, dried, and demoed all areas in need of mitigation.

 
 

Wind and water wreaked havoc on this physical therapy office. Our team tarped the roof and boarded up windows to protect the interior from any additional damage. We then cleaned up and removed all outside debris. Inside, we dried, dehumidified, and demoed all affected areas.

 
 

Containment, drying, and demo, were required to mitigate the damage at this Wingate hotel.

ELLICOTT CITY FLOOD
Ellicott City, MD
2018

On Sunday, May 27, 2018, between 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. a massive storm released nearly 10 inches of rain resulting in over 10 feet of catastrophic flooding which swept down Main Street in Old Ellicott City. Roads, cars, homes, and businesses were swept away. First Choice Services arrived to help in any way possible. Specifically, we drained and dried four business and completed the necessary demo work so they could rebuild and restore.

 

Our crews pumped out several inches of standing water in these units and then dried an dehumidified each. We performed all necessary demo and cleaned up and hauled away all debris.

 

HURRICANE HARVEY
Houston, TX
August 2017

Hurricane Harvey slammed into the Gulf Coast as a Category 4 hurricane in August of 2017. Tied with Hurricane Kartrina as the most costly tropical cyclone on record, Harvey brought over 40 inches or rain over a four day period. First Choice Services was there to mitigate the damages in two major hotels. We drained out the flood waters, and removed carpet, drywall, and other debris. Using dehumidifiers, desiccants, and airmovers, we prepared the properties for the renovations.

 

The Lancaster Hotel was severely damaged by water and flooding. First Choice mitigation included containment, drying, and demo to prepare the facility for the renovations.

 
 

This Sleep Inn and Suites required drying and dehumidifying throughout.

 
 

The Capital Street Professional building experienced massive flooding in the basement requiring water pump out, drying, and demo.

LOUISIANA FLOOD

2016

In August 2016, prolonged rainfall from an unpredictable storm resulted in catastrophic flooding throughout the state of Louisiana. Thousands of houses and businesses were submerged. Our crew arrived to quickly and efficiently mitigate the damages, demo what couldn’t be salvaged, dryout the properties, and remove and dispose of all debris.
